Im thinking about getting a 1911. This is one of the ones i am looking at. Quantico has a military program from s&w . Where the purchase price of one of these is under $1200 . My question is this. I understand this is a S&W forums. But i'd also like tge best bang for my buck in a 1911 in this price range. Are there any other 1911's that i should be looking at?

Thank You
J

$1200.00?
I found this new in the box e-series for 675.00
SMITH & WESSON MDL 1911 E-SERIES 45 ACP 45ACP : Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com

I know it's not a performance center one, but I don't think at 1200.00 there giving you much of a deal, I see these ones of GB for that price right now, and this e-series has many of the same stuff on it.

Its $1150 or something. $100 off or so. You are correct it is not a big discount. I am very open minded to any thing. I have just been considering local prices. I dont have a license to buy out of state /online. I have never owned a 1911. In fact my only handgun is my carry xd mod 2 sub compact. .40 s&w. I'm shooting extremely well with it. Very well! Groups of 3 touching at 15 -21 ft. Since i got a carry gun. I want something a bit more exotic and capable than ill ever be. Springfield trps are more than 1200. But havent been ruled out. Love the look of the 1911 pc bi tone more though. Would like something bordering on a competition 1911 that is built really well. I guess.

The gun you posted also has a reserve on it that hasnt been met. I can get those for 850 or so locally. Same program.

The Colt Competition Models in .45acp and 9mm are a tremendous bang for the buck. I have the 9mm version. A shooting buddy has the .45acp version. They are excellent out of the box pistols. I also own a SW1911PC (Performance Centre 5") which is extremely nice but a few hundred more than the Colt.

Found myself looking at everything again. Thought that i was settled yesterday. However I love the look of the performance center. Looking at the trp as well as the colts. Dan Wessons are to much for me. Looked at Desert Eagle 1911's, did not like those. Sig's, i cant make heads or tails of honestly. I'm a novice when it comes to knowing what to look for in general.

If you can get past the looks of Desert Eagle commander they are nice shooters. I have that and a SW1911SC. The S&W is a really good looking gun and shoots real nice. The Desert Eagle shoots almost as well.

I learned yesterday evening that Dan Wesson made the heritage in my price range. I seriously thought all those guns were 1500-1600+. I believe that is what I am going to get. I do ppriciate everyones help /suggestions. Thank You.

Did you end up getting the DW Heritage? If so, how do you like it?
