S & W 22 A trigger modifications

I am new to bullseye and am currently shooting a S&W 22-A. As it is a relatively new model I do not see any information on improving the trigger break. Does anyone know if there are drop in trigger assemblies available for this model or can anyone describe what might be done to imporve the existing trigger. It's not bad mind you but I would like to get closer to 2 to 2 1/2 pounds of trigger pull with a smooth break. Wny help would be greatly appreciated.

In some cases a rough finish on the sear can be polished but 99% of the time i put some moly on them. It can reduce the trigger pull by up to 50% and more as it works into the pores of the metal. The gun will feel like an expensive trigger job was done on it when just the right lube was applied.

I only use the moly paste or anti seeze because they have a higher (%) percentage of moly in them.

I don't know of any aftermarket trigger parts for the 22A. Mine is back at S&W (3rd time for the same problem), and, IIRC, the trigger itself is plastic. I haven't opened up the receiver, so I can't advise on what to do regarding the trigger, but I have noticed excess travel, creep and a bit of roughness, don't know if much can be done about it if one or more major components are plastic. I am betting that, as you develop your skills and interest in Bullseye competition, you will probably outgrow the 22A pretty rapidly, anyway, and be looking for a Model 41, Match Target Woodsman, High Standard or other high quality target-grade match pistol, anyway. Another excellent choice would be a K-22/Model 17, if you want to use a revolver. The 22A is a nice plinker/informal target gun, but not, in my opinion, suitable for high level competition. BTW, I shot Bullseye many years ago, as well as High Power and Small Bore rifle, rated Master in all classes. Have fun, and start your search for a gun better suited to competition soon.
