Is there a way to increase the trigger weight on a S&W 52-2 to 4lbs to meet CMP/NRA rules for bullseye/EIC?

Is there anyone who makes a mainspring or kit or anything? I am a gunsmith but dont want to experiment and don't have much time until my competition

Numrich Arms has a schematic with some parts for the S&W model 52. The sear spring looks the same but has a different part number than other pistols like the 3904 which might indicate the other springs are heavier. I checked Wolff gun springs and they don’t list springs for the model 52. I suspect a 39-2 sear spring might fit but I have no first hand experience trying to adjust the trigger pull weight.

How close are you in weight?
Miniature shaft shims under the mainspring in the plunger or machine a spacer to add just enough additional compression to make weight might get you there temporarily.

Bench check carefully to make sure there is no coil bind. Too much spacer under the spring will stack the spring solid at or before the full cock notch and is liable to break something.

A S&W part number 10362 is the standard for m39 et al and should suffice too although it may be a bit on the heavy side.

I seem to recall having some 52 springs in the bin some time back. Might have to do some rummaging.

Cheers

Its currently at 2.6 +/-. I need it to be as close to 4lbs without going under as I can get prefferebaly 4.2-4.5.

Wait a dadgum minute...

Service Pistol matches or Leg matches/EIC and President's Hundred are only shot with with service pistols. That's where to 4# trigger rule applies.

Service pistols were/are the M1911 the M9 and I suppose the M17 now.

Model 52 is NOT a service pistol
You won't be shooting EIC with a 52. That's the pistol used in the Centerfire Pistol match and as such it has a 2.5# trigger rule and if you're at 2.6# all is good.

Look to the equipment rules starting on page 35 of the rulebook...
https://thecmp.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/2023PistolRules.pdf

.22 match pistol - 2# trigger
.32 &.38 centerfire match pistol - 2.5# trigger (your 52 is here)
.45 caliber match pistol 3.5# trigger
and..
Service pistol, 4.0# trigger (9mm para or .45ACP only)
M9 or M1911

Cheers
