S&W 22A

Purchased my 22S in 2000 for $249.00, weighs in at 41 ounces with 5.5 bbl.

This cheapo isn't going nowhere, amazes me with its accuracy.

Enjoy your 22A's, I think for the money they are just great for plinking and hitting paper.

The early model 22A I had was very reliable and very inaccurate. My 2206 ran rings around it. The 2206 is now my second favorite .22lr pistol, second to my recently bought 41. The 22A was only the second gun in my life that I've gotten rid of. That just shows that every production model will have an occasional lemon come off the line. I wanted to like it, but it wouldn't shoot like a S&W should.

I have a 5.5" 22A that is fitted with a Bushnell TR-25 red dot (old eyes need optics). It has proven to be a very accurate range gun and deadly to those little bushy tail gray animals. My 22A does seem to prefer HV .22 ammo. It may not represent the pinnacle of S&W production but it sure is a good shooter and that's what counts most to buyer's of the 22A.

I was using the federal automatch. Found a box of CCI minimah hp. Size of my group shrunk by half. Going out tree rattin this weekend.

I've had my 22a for more than a few years now mine has shot WW, Remington, Eley, Federal, RWS, Wolf, CCI (standard vel, target, AR Tactical, Mini-Mag) to include the cheap (and crappy) FED,Rem and WW to their best quality stuff.

The pistol has shot them all without ANY issues. Mine has a Burris Fastfire III installed ( I'm 60 don't see like I used to!) and the best group that proves its worth as a tree-rat killer is a 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inch 10 shot group at 75 yards-off a rest, of course!!!

I have posted on here a couple times about the 22A
I have one, I like it, internally it is just not made well.
I have had to replace many small internal parts on mine.

I have several other 22's to compare it to.
own it, shoot it, enjoy it
That doesn't change how it is made tho.
