HI
WILL S&W REPLACE A CYLINDER? THE 25-5 SMITH HAS A OVER SIZE CYLINDER. CAN THEY REPLACE THE CYLINDER WITH A CORRECT NEW CYLINDER? WOULD THE COST BE TO MUCH?

There was a thread here about this a couple of months ago. I had called Smith a few months earlier, and they had told me no, they didn't do this any longer. Someone else posted they had just called Smith, and they said they still had about 75 cylinders in stock that they could install, but that they were the newer style with the longer bolt notches (which is a good thing), and that they had the new style of ejector star.

Another option, is try to find a used, but decent cylinder from a M-57 .41 mag, or an M-29 .44 mag., and hve it re-chambered to minimum specs for the .45 Colt. That will add a few thousandths to the chamber walls, as well as make your brass last longer. I have seen a few for sale right here in our classifieds.

I hope this helps.

PS- Turn your caps lock off. It looks like your shouting.

I would go for a smaller clambering and have a custom smith like Andy Horvath chamber and time it properly. Midway has Smith cylinders for sale.
I am looking at doing the same thing with a 25-2

I just got mine back from S&W a couple of weeks ago, had them do their master action job, new cylinder and narrow smooth combat trigger.
total bill was a bit over $300, I believe the cylinder was about 150. So yes, they do it, the blueing seems to be a dead on match.
