1977 S&W 27-2 6inch barrel. 97-98 condition. Original mint stocks. $850. Should I buy? Any hints on value?. I don't have pictures.

That’s definitely a buy price if it’s a revolver you like. I would think an example as described probably lives in the $1100-$1200 kind of range, but the actual “value” or price is going to be in a wide range depending on who is selling, where it is offered, who is the potential pool of buyers and exactly how closely you’ve really inspected it and if it’s a true 97-98% condition.

That's half what I paid for mine that letters to 1978, was ANIB in its presentation case. That was three years ago.

This is just the gun. Cokebottle grips. The grips are nice too.

Are you sure about the grips? Do you mean Target grips? Cokes wouldn't be original to a 1977 gun. Actually, were Cokes ever standard on the 27?

Not all target grips are Cokes. But some people don't know the differences.

Stocks in 1977 were definitely not the Coke style, but even if it has incorrect stocks, a 98% condition Model 27-2 for $850 is still a bargain in today's market.

My 6" Model 27-2 is also 1977. I paid $600 for the set almost 14 years ago! I think $850 for a nice 27-2 is a bargain. If the previous owner did happen to install a set of Coke Bottle stocks, then it's a smokin' deal! Go buy it!

This 6"er shipped in June 1976. One shipped in 1977 would have been similarly configured.





"Coke Bottle" stocks (which primarily shipped on the 44 Magnums and some early 41 Magnums) would look something like this on a model 27"

Here is a photo of the 27 I just picked up. Very tight lock up. Decent grips. $850 as was promised. I think it will be a great shooter.

Nice! Looks used, but not abused. For $850 you got about $1100 worth of 357 Magnum revolver goodness.

My initial assessment was incorrect. The grips are not mint (but are in great condition)also are not original. And the condition is more like a good solid 96. And I couldn't be happier.
