i was at a local gun show and saw a S&W model 27-2 5" with S serial number prefix. the guy was firm at $600, it did have holster wear on the sharp edges and a turn ring on the cylinder. i might go back and buy it but wanted to check with you all about the price. do you guys think that a reasonable deal with the holster wear?

5 inchers seem to bring a premium from many buyers........ miss out on a 90%? (dirty) 5 inch a couple of years ago and I'm still kicking myself........ IMO at worse it's $50-75 high if just an OK 5 inch gun.

Got one. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I paid $600 for mine about 5yrs ago.

Shoot, yes. Run back over there and buy it if someone didn't beat you to it already.

thanks guys, i am going to head back down there and get it i have a 27-2 with 3.5" barrel that i really like and wanted to get the 5". just wanted to make sure if i decided to sell down the road that i wouldnt lose out. thanks again, i appreciate it.

If it was Blue, $600 is a good deal. If by chance that 27-2 was Nickle, it was a screaming deal. Add for target trigger & hammer, correct diamond stocks, or at least numbered magnas. I don't think I would have let that one get by me...

Unless it has serious flaws that cannot be fixed by a trip to a decent gunsmith (I do NOT mean cosmetic warts), you should have been on that like flies on manure. Timing or something can be addressed. What I am seeing in the for sale forum here makes that a screaming deal.

I'm with Doug. I couldn't touch a 90% or better S - prefix 27-2 in a 5 inch barrel around here for $600 at any show. I'd be amazed if it's still there when you return.
