First post here. Love the forum! Tons of info here.

Hope somebody can give me some information on a revolver that was given to me years ago, it is a model 31-3 in 32 S&W Long. I believe it’s a J Frame ? Ser. # H108277.IMG_1572.jpeg

Any info is greatly appreciated.

-3 models began in 1990 & were discontinued in 1991. So yours had a very short lifetime in manufacturing.

My guess it was dropped due to very slow sales.

I suggest you change your title as it lists a 13-3, not a 31-3.

After a few corrections by other members my revolver is a 31-1, not a 31-3 as I had originally posted.
Thanks for the observations.

I have one just like that. 31-1 with a sn 792xxx. Not sure of the DOM though. I don't think S&W records are very detailed as to the production dates. H prefixes began in 1969. Four inch barrel deleted in 1978. I have the box and original grips. Wonderful little shooters.

It seems that the 30 and 31 series revolvers (32 Long), have been having a resurgence in interest the past few years. It is understandable as they are small, easily carried, accurate, and fun to shoot as they have minimal recoil. They are just FUN.
The 31-1 has a long enough cylinder that it can be reamed to 32 H&R Mag, and several members have done so with fine results.

The .32 Long is a great cartridge. Very accurate and almost no recoil. Its just plain fun!
I have two 31-1s. a 3" and a 4". I also have a 2" Model 30-1. This was my wife's gun. I've told the story about the arthritis in her hands several times. She loved this little revolver and could shoot it without any trouble at all.
According to SCSW, your gun was made between 1975-1980. I'm afraid it doesn't get more specific than that.

I've had a few of these, the most recent being a similar 31-1 w/original stocks. As others have said, great shooters almost w/o exception. Enjoy yours in good health.

This is the round butt Model 30-1 (a/k/a the .32 Hand Ejector), not the square butt Model 31-1 (a/k/a the .32 Regulation Police). And yes, fun, useful revolvers, these .32s!
You are correct; have not had it out in a while and checked my list. 1968 3" barrel 30-1, thanks
