Is there a way to add a manual thumb safety to a non-manual safety on the 380 M&P Bodyguard?

NO

The slide has different cut outs (or in your case...No cuts)
you would need a new slide,in addition to the manual safety parts for the frame. so for price, Just buy another gun with safety and have both?

It's definitely much more work than it's worth when the configuration you want is (generally) available somewhere.

Do you feel comfortable with carrying a revolver? The Bodyguard is just a revolver in a pistol body. With a good holster, you shouldn’t have any safety concerns. I bought one with a safety for a $35 savings. Never use the safety. Carry in a Vedder light tuck kydex holster AIWB.
