I must be a bone head or I'm worse than a blind squirrel. Can't find a thing on the Model 39 using the SEARCH for this forum? Got a 39-2 looks almost new with box, papers and cleaning tool.
I want to know more about the pistol I bought. I always pay too much for stuff but never get a bad case of buyer's remorse. $500 OTD isn't too bad? Really is a 98% plus and the box is in great shape.
Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.

Try searching for "Model 39" using the quotes. This board doesn't seem to like short search terms like '39'.

A really nice Model 39-2 with everything would be OK at $500, maybe a bit steep. I got an unfired in the box with everything for that in the last year.

I think you did great for that price. The Model 39 is a real classic and the best looking 9mm ever!

The finish really caught my eye.
Any recommended ammo or avoid ammo. I use mostly S&B 115 or American Eagle 115 as range ammo. 124 is my usual choice for SD ammo.

Might Take Awhile

To take my new find out for shooting. I do have every intention of putting some rounds down range with it.

Unintended Discharge Problem?

On another message board a problem with unintentional discharges in the Model 39 was brought up. Has anyone else heard about this?

That doesn't sound like a common problem. Unless a 39-2 isn't in proper working order and the owner fires it anyway. Of course this will happen with any gun not in proper working order. The other possibility is that someone was doing a home "drop test" on their 39/39-2. The first gen semi-autos do not have a firing pin block, so if the pistol is dropped just right it could go off.

I have a few Model 39/39-2's spread around the production era and have only had a one that had a rough chamber from previous owner abuse. Otherwise they have been perfectly reliable and comfortable to shoot.

here is my $400.00 39-2 about 95-98% cond to me it is more like 98%,box,manual,paper,3 mags........love it

Nice looking pistol!
The 39/39-2 is a good looking design and from what I have read so far sound mechanically, too. I'm getting an itch on my index finger that will only get relief from a trip to the range.
I just wish I had gotten two S&W magazines, and known to look before passing over the cash.

In the early '70's I used Super Vel ammo in one until the frame cracked and the pistol seized up. Stupid move on my part....Never had an opportunity to own another.
Beautiful pistols though.......

I won't use anything hotter that the 9x19NATO I have. I'll run a couple of mags of JHPs thru it just to see if they work. I have no intention to use the 39-2 for home or self defense.
