Hi all

I found this S&W 4" Bowie Knife for $65 AUD (approx $44 USD). The blade is marked Stainless and USA.

Can anyone tell me about these knives? Were they really US made or just cheap imports marked S&W? 4" sounds a like short to be called a Bowie Knife. Are they any good?

Obviously the sheath is a write-off.

Many thanks

Way back had almost all of them.
Thinned the herd, only kept this one.

That's a model 6085. Not sure of the stainless alloy. Made in the 80s. It sharpens well and holds an edge. They were sold for around $35. in blister packaging. The original sheath was Pleather and was a PO*. I'm trying to find someone to make me a new LH sheath.
Collectable NO, but a nice small useful sheath knife.

That's good servicable knife but nothing a collector would jump on. $65 Aussie is about $40 US, last time I looked, and $40 is a little high for what you might pay for that knife in the US. Offer the seller , maybe $50 tops and you will have your money's worth if they accept. Ed
