S&W 4006 Laser grips

I recently purchased a set of crimsom laser grips. I haven't made it to the range as of yet but I have had lot of arm chair practice & can't seem to get in a comfortable shooting position & activate the laser at the same time. I have fairly large hands & my finger hits the laser activator in the joint not on the finger tip.Has anyone else had this problem?
