S&W 4043

Just got back from my friendly, neighbor firearms emporium and the pusher had a new toy in the case. It is a S&W 4043, .40 S&W DAO in like new condition, no box, no papers, one magazine. He is asking $375.00.

It is obvious this is a police trade in, but he accquired it in trade instead of through regular purchasing channels.

My question is? Any issues? How good is the price? Any experience with them? Pros, cons?

Help me out guys. I'm kinda Jonesing for this one.....looks awfully nice.

It's not a bad price for one in nice shape, and you don't have to mess around with shipping and transfer costs.

I own the 4046 version..same gun except steel frame.

Great shooting pistol once you get used to the trigger.

I just picked up a couple more mags for mine earlier this week....I got a bunch of yellow follower mags now...

I carry a 4043 and several mags in my "bag" that is transferred between vehicles, motels, and home. On most trips it is moved to an "easy reach" location within the vehicle. Except of course when traveling to Illinois.
It has never failed to fire. It is a good caliber. The double action only is an easy transition for me from a revolver or even my 4566. I also have a 4046.
The alloy frame shows shiny spots from contact wear and the night sights are dim, but it is my "go-to-gun". The price is about in line with what mine cost and what the 4046 cost from Bud's plus transfer.
Try it.

I've got one and had a bar-sto .357 sig barrel installed back when they were making 'em.

It's a great gun in both calibers.

I think I paid around $300 for the 4046 from CDNN and it was like new.

I have the 4043 and the 4044. The 4043 is a very good carry piece and is what I carry. I really like the trigger.

Going to dress it up. changing the s&w grip for hogue pav ferro wood grips.Its a cool looking gun.I love it.

Was thinking of getting one my self, then the place i was looking at that had them for a good price and in nice shape sold out. But i think Southern Ohio Guns still has some at a good price as well as 4046s and TSWs. So ill have to think on it some more i gess. Hope if you get the one you are looking at, that you like it.

Charlie, I bought a 4043 Police trade-in last year and love it. The trigger takes some getting used to, but once you become acustomed to it I'm sure you will like it.
I think I paid right around $300 from my LGS.
