S&W 40VE Rear Site Is Off Center.

I don't know how this happen,I haven't fired this S&W 40VE in a few years I never notice the rear site being this far of center. I have only fired a box of 50 rounds in it, and that's the olny time I have fired it. Here are two pictures of it.I think you will have to enlarge the picture to really see how far the site is off to the left side on the pistol.

I've got the 9mm version, and if IIRC, the rear sight is plastic,
with no set screw. Probably has a stainless leaf/flat spring on
the underside, and can shift in dovetail if it gets a nice whack.

You should be able to re-center it with any soft punch (nylon rod,
hardwood dowel, piece of plastic coat hanger) easily. Chuck it
in a vise with padding and set punch at base of sight, and tap
lightly, to start. Should move pretty easy!
