I took my 41 apart to clean it when I reassembled it it won't fire

Have taken it apart numerous times to clean it this time after reassembling it it would not fire I racked it numerous times trigger will not set Trigger is all the way back against trigger guard will not go forward to reset

Sounds elementary, but there is a magazine disconnect in the model 41. The magazine must be fully inserted for the gun to fire.

I have tried everything magazine in and out tried several magazines field stripped gun numerous times trigger will not reset it's locked back to the rer will not come forward to fire

I would give Smith & Wesson a call and ask for tech support. They may be able to walk you thru it.

Make sure the Trigger Guard is FULLY seated in place after reassembly. Sometimes it doesn't seat 100%.

Make sure the overtravel screw in the trigger has not moved deeper and is preventing the gun from firing.

The back of he trigger is flush against the trigger guard with no play at all

On the right side of the frame....is the trigger bar (and attached trigger) still moving freely? Is the trigger bar spring that is positioned under the bar still in place? You will have to remove the grip panel to check this. The trigger bar spring pushes up on the trigger bar.
Also, the trigger spring itself may be an issue. It exerts forward pressure on the trigger. The trigger spring is a 'pigtail' spring positioned on the trigger pin.
