S&W 4506

Hello all

here is a moment that I was looking for a 4506 because I find this beautiful pistol and I finally found! this model is not common here at home in Belgium it is even rather rare most of the shooters of my club shoot only on the gun, I found it in the Netherlands and it is like new, I have 5 revolver S & W and only a pistol cal 22 lr, the 22 a1 and here is now an S & W in 45 ACP !!

nice find friend!!! i know how hard it is to find such a piece in the European side of the Atlantic!! i would suggest, like with all used semi automatics, you replace the recoil spring with a new one. cheap insurance, as first, you may not know how many rounds are through the existing one, and second and most important, is this that is wearing now, the ball ammo spring? or the target load? two of mine had the target spring in them. not good for shooting 230grs. enjoy your find friend!!!

The rib on top of the slide and square front trigger guard make that an early 4506.

45XX series pistols have a reputation for reliable feeding of bullet shapes that jam older .45s like Model 1911s. Hand cycled nearly all 45XX pistols will feed empty cases. Mine reliably feed sharp cornered SWC lead bullets from bullet molds that were designed for revolvers.

To put the weight that multiple replies commented on in perspective, 4506s only weigh 1 ounce more that our most traditional .45, the army 1911. The modern small and or light .45s are for comfortable daily concealed carry but not pleasant for target shooting. I hope you enjoy your new pistol.
