S&W 45's: Which one?

I just purchased a 645 with the box and papers at the last fun show

Shot it last Sunday, it did great with cast 200 get and 5 gr Bull

I would like to acquire more magazines for it

Are Pro mags GTG ? Thanks

Another vote for the 625 revolver with moon clips. To save money look at the M&P 45 polymer frame, utterly reliable in my experience.

I really like the 645.

In addition, I've had a 4566, two 4516-2s, and still own a 1076.

Personally, I like the ability to change-out the grip panels on the 645. I love the feel of that gun, and its reliability is unquestioned.

Hello Redcoat3340
I have the following: Shorty 45 PC, 4506-1, 4516-2 Special (laser ingraved), 4566 TSW, S & W 1911 SC E series, and a 457 and don't shoot them. All are excellent to unfired condition. PM me, as the herd needs to thin.
I hope this isn't a forum No-No, if so sorry!

These are my two personal favorite Smith .45 ACP handguns.

A 645. Digests anything and everything in that caliber. Recoil is soaked up nicely. Double action if you prefer it for the first shot, or cock the hammer if you don't. Solid as Gibraltar.

Next, a customized and tuned Model of 1988 625. Smoothest revolver of any I own, and extremely accurate.

Both are fun shooters, and will handle +P with ease.

Are those Ahrends classic targets on your pretty 625 John? I love that look, and have them on the wish list. Love the Sonny Crocket 645 too!!

Yes, those are Ahrends round-to-square-butt classic target conversion stocks. I way prefer the square-butt style on my N-frames.

I bought that 645 new in the box when they first came out - figured that S&W's first .45 semiauto might some day become a prime collectible. It was certainly state of the art then.

Every .45 ACP Smith wheel gun I've ever shot was a better than average shooter. That said, I inferred from the fact that the OP placed this thread in the "Smith & Wesson Semi-Automatic Pistols" sub-forum that he was asking about autoloaders and not revolvers. I suppose it's just the usual thread drift.

I think dang near EVERYONE missed the part about "Recoil Adverse"...
Which means if it ain't got Hogue's, it's probably useless to him already.

My suggestion would be a CS45, usually around $600 which fits the cost angle...
the Hogues fit the "Recoil Adverse" angle...
and they are wonderful for CC in Thunderwear or a DeSantis Pocket Holster :D
