I don't see BFS specifically listed. Other BF* prefixes are seen in '90 and '91. Someone with more specific information may be along soon. Without more information we can't add too much to that.
While many consider the .41 Magnum an obsolete caliber, it has a loyal following and is very popular here. We would love to see pics of your revolver, and range reports are always welcome.

I’m seeing the production change from -1 to-2 started in 1988, and -3 started in 1990. Page 309, 5th Edition. Of course there is the fact I have read here S&W wasted no parts, frames, etc., but the BF* prefixes are as stated above, by Birdhunter6. So who knows exactly without a letter?!!
One would think somebody from the mother ship knows the key to their system!
