S&W 5906 magazine orientation

I need some help on which way he spring is oriented in my 5906 magazines. The picture attached is of two magazines from different times.

The one on the left with the metal floor plate attached is an original from 1989 and the one on the right is from the middle to late 1990's. I received some from Midway yesterday that are new and they are just like the ones from the 1990's with the plastic floor plates.

My quandary is I have several more and all of them are the same all the way from the late 1980's through 2017 and have never thought about the way the spring is placed in the magazine I have always just put them back in the way they came out.

It looks like the top of the spring with the curled loop end should be under the follower. Exactly opposite from the way they come from the factory.

I also have a few 469 magazines form the 1980's and they came the same as the 5906 magazines, with the metal floor plate attached to the curled end. Just doesn't look right, but I've never had a stoppage with them that I can remember.

Can anyone advise me which end or way the spring is supposed to go in ?

You have your left and right mixed up. Other than that, I don't see what you're talking about. You have the "loop" toward the bottom on both, which I believe is correct. At least, that's what all of mine look like, and I have some of each as well.

The curled loop end to the bottom is correct. That was meant to hold the metal plate to that end of the spring.
