How rare is this knife? 2 years ago my son lost the one I gave him in 1984/85. Other than my Buck 110 folder it was the best knife we've ever used. I'd like to surprise him with a replacement and internet searches led me to this site. I've placed a want ad ( http://smith-wessonforum.com/wanted-buy/438831-wanted-s-w-knife-6083-a.html ) with lots of looks but no replies for a few days. 6083 would be my first choice but I'd take a 6080.
So back to my original question, how rare are these knives?
(I paid $5.00 for the one I bought back in 84/85, brand new.)

Might be a good idea to post pictures here of both the 6083 and the 6080 model, as made by Taylor Cutlery for S&W, so Forum members know what you are seeking. Retail prices in the early 80s were in the $30 ea. range, so you got a bargain at $5.00. They show up occasionally on Ebay and at knife shows. Prices for nice examples can exceed $50. Ed.

The easiest place to find one would be eBay, there are a couple on there now.

I've got one still in the box that I've never used. I bought it sometime in the 80s. But, judging from the pictures, I think mine is a 6085. But then, I haven't looked at it in probably 10 years.
