I own a 617- 4 10 shot and have owned the DS 10-speed loader for awhile now and really like it! ;)

The loading block that I bought with it from Dave Skrzela came with only 4 of the 10 hole patterns so my good son (who is a tool and die maker, and on his last day at work because of a layoff), fired up the company's Bridgeport mill (with their approval) and made me an aluminum block that holds 160 rounds of .22 LR! (That's 16 10 round hole patterns).

So that plus the one from Dave Skrzela, plus 10 rounds in the speed loader itself, plus 10 more rounds in the revolver sets me up for 220 rounds of fast shooting without having to reload any rounds one at a time!

Very good job that the son did, sorry to hear about the layoff. Bet you will enjoy it for years, now all you need is a box to put it into to be able to haul it to the range.

You have a good son, I hope he finds work soon. I have quite a few of those speed loaders. I have the 10 shot & 8 shot loaders. they are very nice.

Maybe your son should see if he can work up some kind of arrangement with DS-10
Looks like he has viable skill.
Can you rent time on one those milling machines?

Doing that on a Bridgeport took a LOT of time. Each hole had to be dialed in individually. Nice work.

Actually, milling that thing wouldn't be too hard with a rotary table and indexing disks. Mount the block on the rotary table and set the machine up as a drill press at the right co-ordinates for one hole out of each group in a particular circle, then for each hole drilled, rotate the block to the required number of degrees using the indexing disk, and drill the equivalent hole in the next group. That'll take ten passes for each circle, but it'll go pretty quickly, I think.

I'm thinking I could make me one, but what about that speedloader? I've never tried that kind.

I'd be interested in an speedloading wheel.... what do they cost?

220-speed = intergalactic

Awesome !
Must look into this and see if a friend can make sth similar.
Need to contact this Skrzella fella for one of his speedloaders too.
All great ideas are quite simple actually; getting them is the difficult part.

In the states, his 10-shot speedloader, handle, and 6x10 loading block cost me $56 delivered earlier this summer. A bargain... until you see how rapidly you can disparch ammo. BTW, my speed has a secret - my wife keeps that plate loaded! A fun kit:

You May want to view the Ansac Speedloader

RonJon, You may want to view the video of the Ansac Speedloader that Shooters Connection carries. It is in my opinion the Best by far Speed loader on the market. It costs more but if you need to do a speed load on the the clock as in a non sanctioned Steel Match were they require you to do a speed load on the clock, this is the one you want. The ergonomics of the loader is far more user friendly.
I am pretty familiar with the tool trade in which your boy is in and I wish him the best. Buy American and stay out of WalMart .
Ansac is Manufactured in Cinti. Ohio.

Check Out the Loader Trays as well

Ansac makes a 60,120 and a 240 round reloading tray as well.
The trays are a composite material and a very good value.

Ronjon, VERY nice aluminum loading block. You do indeed have a VERY good son!
I have both the Speed-Beez and the DS-10 speedloaders as well as 2 loading block/case combos for my 617. I like the idea of being able to load up a loading block, close the case and take it to the range and be able to shoot right away. I can carry 200 rounds with the these rigs

Even though this thread is four years old; I'll play.

These loading blocks make shooting much more fun!
