S&W 627 Performance Center- Blood Work

Jas,
Well, my wife says "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". Someday maybe i can surprise her.

I just wish Hogue would make some of their grips (rubber and vinyl and polymer or whatever are grips, wood is stocks :) without finger cutouts , and I wish Pachmayr would smart up and make the N frame RB in the Compac Pro, like the K frame has.
The K frame RB Compac Pro would probably fit on the N frame, as it seems only as you get to where the "handle" merges with the frame does the N get larger than the K frame. But it would look fugly, especially on stainless.

Also, glad I stopped by one more time as it has cleared up the product code 414170000 mystery: I also was looking all over Smith's website, but couldn't find it.
Now I know that a phone call will be needed, if I decide to go that route...........wonder if they have any other unadvertised specials?

Anton,

If you know S&W's Product Code numbers you can just about order anything. They don't list this stuff normally on their website.

Since I originally posted a picture of my new 627 PC Snubby several weeks ago, there has been a lot of PMs about the Fluted Cylinder and whether there were any MIM parts in the Performance Center model. I was in contact with S&W this morning to research this gun. The particular 627 based upon the serial number was made in May, 2010 with a fluted cylinder. S&W advised that in May, 2010 they made a bunch of fluted as well as unfluted guns in the PC Section. The 627 PC does not have any MIM parts in it according to S&W. The rep i spoke with advised that in June forward they used unfluted cylinders in their 627, 629, & 657 model snubbys. Hope this helps some.

I want one! Will it handle heavy magnums? I have seen there is orginals and reissues. Whats the deal with them? How many did they make? did they bring them back again and make more? just wondering what to look for when I purchase one. Thanks!

Standard Pachmayr Compaq k-frame round butt rubber fits my 627-PC perfectly and are my preferred grips for shooting and carrying the big snub. If the Pro model has open backstrap probably would look bad at the top.

I have a set of these grips on order ... they're not due in for another 3-4 weeks minimum, so unfortunately, there's a wait.

S&W Customer Service is pretty sweet ... I've called them at least a half dozen times just in the past month. If you're looking for something in particular, the rep will research part numbers for you based on a description.

These grips, for example, are available as stock on other Performance Center revolvers.

How many of these revolvers were made? What should I look for when I purchase one?
