S&W 629-2 year made?

I just traded for a 629-2 # 3 AUZ96--. It's has a 8 3/8 brl, and apears to only have a cyl. or two through it. I'm pleased as punch, this will be an engraving project this winter. Would have prefered a 6" barrel, but am not complaining! Can any tell me when the 629 was intorduced and when this one was made. Best regards- the toolman.

Thanks MDMarauder. Good to know how old the gun is, for it hasn't been used hardly at all. You can hardly see a trace of the bolt line in the cyl. The toolman.
