Has the unfluted cylinder and black ramp front sight. Is this a Lew Horton special order? Will this take heavy loads or is this pre endurance era? What is the heaviest H110 and 240 grain loads with Hornady XTP bullets I should use? I have a bunch loaded with 24 grain but this was for my lever rifle.

Thanks for any help here.

I believe yours is either a dash 1 or 2 which is pre- endurance package. It'll take a stout load, just not a steady diet of them. I'll let someone more familiar with H110 loads advise you on that.

103616

Product code 103616 is a Classic Hunter, not LH! Your load of 24grs of H110 w/Hornady 240gr XTP is my deer hunting load! I have a 29-3 that has a few thousand rounds thru it and it is still ticking! I have backed it down to 23.5 in the latter few years because of me! Look the load up in a Hornady book and you will find it under MAX LOAD!

Thanks for the Lew Horton update. I read that on another sight and was not sure. What is the current book value and market price for an NIB specimen?

I bought it today. One ragged hole at 7 yards. It was 100% new and one of the smoothest actions I have bought to date. Could not be happier. Don't know the current value but I have a feeling a got a great deal. Would definitely buy again. The N frames are my favorite. Got a big brother to my Lew Horton 24-3.

From my internet research I think this was a limited run of 5000 Classic Hunter models 629-1 and 629-2 made around 1988. SN prefix is BAS59XX
