Hello friends,
I thought I'd post this brief note to possibly help owners of the models above.
Many of these guns have a factory stainless steel Phillips head screw retaining the right side safety / decocker lever. Quite frankly, it doesn't look very professional or appealing. Later production switched to a similar sized screw designed to be tightened with a hex key.
I have a beautiful model 645, and it came with the ugly Phillips head screw. Time for a change.
I went to my local Ace Hardware store (I believe Home Depot might have worked too) and bought the following item:
Round head stainless steel screw, thread 8-32, 3/8" long, using a 3/32 hex key to tighten. Cost was 55 cents. It was shiny polished stainless, so I used a little fine emory cloth to dull the finish and match the look of the original.
I installed the replacement, using a tiny drop of blue Locktite, and I'm very pleased. I put the original in a little baggie, so one day if I sell the gun the new owner can restore it to the original condition.
ANYWAY, I thought posting this might help another Forum member if they are so inclined to make the change.
Best wishes everyone.
