Put a few rounds through this model 64 this am.
Nice and smooth action.
It is marked S.C.P.D. not real certain what agency.
It was a pick up out of a local Cabela's a few
months ago. For the staggering price of $300 OTD.
Makes for a great house gun here on the coast.

No doubt about it- that’s a 64 from my old department, the Suffolk County NY PD, headquartered in Yaphank, Town of Brookhaven, Long Island, NY.
64s were the last revolver issued to officers before the transition to GLOCK 19/26 around 1990.
It’s not uncommon to find an SCPD revolver marked SCPD R for “retired”, as officers retire with their duty weapon, but I know with pretty good certainty that the 64s were generally not so marked.
When we transitioned to the GLOCK platform, officers were given the opportunity to purchase their service revolver and if they chose not to, the revolver was sold to Kiesler Police Supply. Where they went from there is anyone’s guess. I suspect your 64 is one of those guns, but who knows…?

My money is on Suffolk County PD. I have a couple of 15’s marked that way although I’ve not lettered. One of the less common County Police Depts.

FWIW, the SCPD is one of two county police departments on Long Island. The other being the Nassau County PD.
Both are large, major police departments and if I recall, both are amongst the largest municipal police departments in the Country.
