S&W 640

Got this Saturday at a police supply shop. One of the grips was cracked in two. I saw it Friday the guy said $215.So I went back to get it Saturday. got it home and cleaned it up and put these grips on it. I looked it up in the S&W tome. and its a 1989 early production 640. ssn CEN03xx I was going to sell it but not now.It came from the carboro nc police dept.

A man was in there Friday looking at 3 guns. he said he'd be back .well Saturday he came in while I was there. he argued with the manager over a price then paid for the guns and left. I asked what was his issue? he was upset over the price of a colt series 80 mustang 380 he wanted it for $135 instead of $160. WOW I told the worker dam I would have gave you $260 for it. he also got a springfield 1911a1 SS 45acp for $90. and a sig 380 for $225.the workers in the shop don't like that guy said hes a mart azz.I quickly asked about any S&Ws and Colts but none.

It is in great shape .It was very dirty. very good action I cant wait to fire it. They have this and thinking on it . but im not a fan of them.they will go lower than $270

well for that guy he some how in with the manager in the SC shop who is over the NC shop also. he made a call Friday and bo said let him have anything $50 over our cost on confiscated guns .I told them if I knew the colt was going for $160 I would have gave you $260.He said hbe would have sold me the colt just to keep that guy from getting it.anyway im going back Thursday.

Dude, you stole it! I had one of those +P+ marked that I traded off. Probably the dumbest trade I ever made.

Nice! Mine dates to January 1991, BFYxxx. It is not marked for +P+ and it sure as heck wasn't $215. Great score, well bought!

That pricing makes zero sense, nor the fact that someone wouldn't buy every gun they had at those prices.

2008 not only demanded its gun prices back, it got them...and a bad attitude as a bonus. Makes you wonder if the store manager is a relative, or being extorted.

not kin to him. that cat used to go to another police shop and do the same thing. He has some money from duke power 2.5 million in a injury settlement and that one guy treats him like a king.

$215 is a heck of a nice score. I would go over it lightly with some gray Scotchbrite lubed with a couple of drops of Breakfree and then finish with white Scotchbrite. Be careful to follow the original polishing grain marks. I'll bet it looks like a $600 gun when finished.

640 is one of my faves. Awesome carry gun. It gets taken every evening on our walks. Appendix carry, iwb, 158gr .38spl +p Underwood wadcutters, gym shorts. Pictured with the pocket EDC 442

The price you got on yours was just short of larceny. Barely.
