I have a 645 and I want to get a Serpa paddle OWB holster for it. I haven't been able to find one made for the 645 on the internet or anywhere.

Is there a gun model that is close enough in dimensions that my 645 would fit snuggly and lock properly in it?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! If there is no solution to be found on this forum, I guess I will just have to get another kind of holster.

Thanks!

I've got one that fits the 59xx series and I wonder if it would fit as it seems to have a little extra room. I use it with my 6906 and my model 59, and I wonder what others would fit.

According to their website the 4000 and 5900 is listed as available holsters for order.

Catch of course is that theres no way to know what fits what and how until someone takes gun model X and tries it in holster Y.An example of this is the Ruger SR40 fitting in the SR9 Serpa-its not listed on the site as compatible, but it fits just fine.

The 645 is taller from the bottom of the trigger guard to the top of the slide then the 4000/5900/6900 guns. The other problem is the square guard, I believe all the Serpa holsters are for the round guard models only.

Thanks for responses and help. From what I have seen and heard, the Blackhawk Serpa and the RSR Defense holster systems for Sig P226 and Beretta 92 (both square trigger guards of similar size) are close and do fit the 645 well. I thought the Sig P226 was too short but oh, well.

I didn't have time today but tomorrow I am going to take my 645 to Sportsman's Warehouse and test it in some holsters.

Agreed, no way to know for sure until pistol A is fitted into holster B.

Thanks again, I'll let you know.

I have taken a 5900/4006 holster, removed the spring loaded plastic finger thing that bears against the frame's dustcover (whatever you want to call it) and hogged out the area in front of the dust cover where the bottom of the slide would be with a Dremel sanding drum. Its a little cozy on the width, but it works pretty well for my 1006. Haven't tried it in SERPA's for another model.

Cabela's has the same Blackhawk Serpa holsters for about $20 less than the price Sportsman's Warehouse is asking. I think I'll drive a little farther for a $20 difference! :)

Be advised there are two different models. The black Serpa Level II comes with the belt loop plate (or whatever they call it) and the paddle. There is also a grey "Sportster" model that only comes with the paddle, and that one is cheaper. If you are patient and watch for them you can usually find the standard Level II (both carry options) for $25 to $35 because there are only about 6 of us in the world who want one evidently. :) That being said, everyone I know who uses the things have pretty much settled on the paddle and the belt loop plate is collecting dust somewhere or thrown in the trash. Unless the paddle interfers with something else on your belt, it really doesn't give any benefit in my opinion. If you stick your large frame pistol in one of the 5906, you'll see what I'm talking about with the Dremel tool mod. The opening in the bottom of the holster were the muzzle will stick out is not tall enough, but the diamter of the standard Dremel sanding drum is almost exactly the same diamter as the bottom of the slide. Again, the width of the slide left to right will probably cause it to be a little sticky in the holster but there isn't much you can do about that if its too tight. Mine isn't as loose as I would like when drawing the gun, but its tolerable...not really any worse than a new tight leather holster. I agree with some of the other guys and I would try a Sig 226 holster or similar while you're at it...it might be just the ticket.

Just go to the Blackhawk website and get their customer service number and give them a call. When I got my 5900 series I just called them with the model of the gun and they looked up the correct size holster and I even purchased it direct and had it in 3 days. They are fantastic holsters, I have them for several of my guns.

I have been out and have just seen the last 2 replies. If ida known I may have waited but I will tell you what happened. :)

I went to Cabela's and as usual the guy at the gun display gave me great customer service. As I named Blackhawk Serpa Level II's (I think that is all they had, the ones with the belt loop and paddle attachment) he pulled them off the display. They didn't have the Serpa for the 4006/5900 in stock so we tried the ones for Beretta 92, 1911, S&W M&P, Walther, Glock 21 and the Sig P226.

The one that worked the best was the one for the Sig P226 believe it or not. The holster is a little short but the Smith 645 fits snugly with no dremel modification needed and fully locks into the holster. Both me and the Cabela's employee tried pulling the 645 out of the holster and couldn't do it.

So I bought it. It surprised me that it worked. Tried it on at home (I put the paddle on and put the belt part in the closet to collect dust as S&W247 mentioned above :) and it works and fits very well. The paddle on this Serpa is much more comfortable than the paddle on my non-Serpa Blackhawk Kydex holster for my Glock 19.

I have been wearing the S&W 645 in the Sig P226 holster for the rest of the day after clearing and dry drawing it about 20 times. Smooth easy draw and strong retention. There may be a better solution out there but this serves me well for what I wanted.

Again, thanks for all the recommendations!

I believe it.I use a Sig P220 IWB holster for my 4506.

Good times. Finding a good safe working carry holster for my 645 is like getting a new pistol! Makes it seem new again anyway. :)

@disneyr

-Thank you thank you thank you for the great post. I've wanted a serpa for my 645 for a long time as well but didn't have the option to try every type they had to find one that fits. You've helped me narrow it down to the Serpa Sig P226 holster. Can you tell me which version of the holster you bought to get a good fit (Concealment/Level2/Level3), or if you even still have the item number from the blackhawk.com website. I hope you can help me out.

I'm an idiot, sorry. Didn't see that you mentioned the clerk brought you out a bunch of Level II holsters. I'll get one and hope I have just as much luck as you did.
