S&W 65-5

Found this model 65-5 at a local shop priced at 500 +tax.

My first 3 inch 65. I can see why these are popular. Feels very nice.

The balance is sweet on a 3" k frame. I've got a 64 3" and I'm currently pursuing a 3" 65! The 3" barrel k frame size and +P ammo are the perfect combo in a revolver to me. Great choice for a very good price!

Have had a 3" 65 since 1986.......................picked up a second about 5 years ago...... passed on a third last year at $650 in a LGS

Only thing better is a 3" 66... paired with Spegel Boot Grips....... of which I've got three

Wish they would have offered a 3" 65NL with enclosed ejector rod.
Like they did on the auto side with the....... 3913NL.

Bought my Model 65-1 back in 1977 cost - $200. My best friend liked it so much he kept borrowing it. So I bought him one. He married a liberal-feminist gun hater and that was the last I saw of them, they divorced me. Ok well. Still got my guns.

I have to admit that I have a great fondness for snubby K frames (everyone probably knows that if they have read my posts on the subject) but the best I can do is a 2" or a 2.5" K frame. However, after having a 2.5" 686+ for years and then after acquiring a 4" 686+ someone on this Forum made me want a 3" 686" SO BADLY that I went and did it. A 3" L frame ain't bad, neither!!!!

But now I'll be looking for a 3" K frame; y'all are such enablers!

It was my backpacking gun for years, 158gr bullets and I was off into the deep bush. Until I came across an angry black bear that wanted my food. I fought him off with rocks and sticks and nearly shot the bruin. But we both lived. After that trip I now carry my S&W 629-4 44 magnum with Federal Hammerhead 310gr. I sleep better at night.

Went from no 3” K frames to two in a year;
M65-5 and M64 NY-1, respectively.
Best handling revolvers I own.

65-3 brought back from mud fence status with a little work.Closest thing to a BBQ gun that I own. The 3" K frame just feels right. Have had no problem acquiring a few of these but still have never even seen a 3 inch 13 in person let alone for sale.

The others are M-64s and a 66-2.
