It's called the "side plate".

It's a retainer for the sear pin at the bottom, and is attached to the hammer pin at the top.

The 59 series evolved. You'll find early Model 59s with the side plate on the right side like yours and later examples of the 59 series like the Model 459 with the side plate on the left side with a slightly different retainer for the sear pin.

However you may not find schematics that show both styles, which can make it confusing. You have to clearly specify whether you want the "old style" or the "new style" when ordering one.
