I have owned one or 2 both J frames one a model 38 and one 37 shot them and traded them for all steel models. I am sure that other people like them. I know a lot of people carry them, and I see a whole bunch for sale.

I will more likely than not stick with the all steel models, and for some reason i think the model 49 looks cool.

I like the airweights because they don't weigh you down in a pocket or in an ankle holster. But the Model 49s DO look cool, don't they? Here's mine:

I have a 649 right now and Jim at Shooter's is getting a nickel 49 for consignment that I told him I would buy, so I hope to have that by the end of September.

I have never used an ankle holster, but I have pocket carried a 640, I had a used model 38 and it was nice, but I am always wondering if the frame will hold up to shooting.

I had a friend of mine he was a Ventura County Deputy in the 50's to the 70's and carried a Colt Cobra and a Viper for awhile but switched to a Centenial and then a 640.

I will keep an open mind on the airweights I like the 442's because they are blued.

Airweight

I really like my pre-lock Airweight model 442. It is so easy to carry in a pocket holster that I always have it with me (except where prohibited by law, of course). For realistic, likely scenarios at conversation distances I feel that this snubbie provides good utility. Your Bodyguard looks to be in very good shape, but that humpbacked model has never appealed to me (on purely cosmetic grounds).

Here are two Airweight model 38s.
Nice and light weight, Also look at the 638 and the ?438?

My 642 is now my primary CCW gun. Love it for its utility, easy of carry, and accuracy. Bang out +P rounds with abandon and no complaints on its part; some on mine, though, after 50 rounds down range. Shooting +P is no fun albeit quite manageable.

Be safe.

The one thing I like about the Airweights is that they give me an alternative when I am tempted to not carry. On those occasions when I don't want to carry the relatively heavy Model 940 I can always pick up the Model 37 and drop it in a pocket.

I am in the mood for a 329PD HIVIZ for some reason. I go through spells like this sometimes.

I have had a 638 for years and love it. I had a number of all steel pocket revolvers before getting it and wouldn't go back. The reduction in weight is worth it. I carry it a LOT more than I shoot it.

I've had steel but switched to an air-weight since I ankle carry most of the time and the lighter weight makes a big difference down there...

I like them both but there are pros and cons to both steel and alloy handguns.
For shooting, steel is prolly best but likewise alloy is prolly better for carrying.
Since I carry more than I shoot, I'm partial to alloy for ccw.

I prefer steel

The airweights are nice to carry, but I like being proficient with my carry guns and the light ones are just too abusive to shoot any amount at all.

Here's my summer gun, an early pre-40 Centennial

I did the same.

Initially I had a K frame Model 19-5 snub but I found that to be too heavy and the crane was a bit loose.

Invested in a smaller version of it being a nickel 36, loved the gun but I was allergic to nickel with a Barami hip grip and the nickel against my skin. It also had a semi-bobbed hammer that was not filed down so it had some sharp edges that dug in.

I then went to a Colt Agent, but that was kinda big and I could not find replacement grips or a decent holster for it.

Went back to a vintage square butt 36 but sold that because the square but did not conceal as well and felt heavy after the aluminum framed agent.

Settled on a 637 airweight but then wanted a snag free no hammer version and got a 642. Ditched them both because of the internal lock and did not like the way they felt when shot.

A few months ago I came across a birth year M49 in steel. I have mixed feeling about it but the condition is fantastic. I put a set of diamond grips and a tyler t grip on it. I think it's a keeper finally.
