Hi Folks, My dad passed away in June, and in cleaning out his gear, I came across these cleaning kits. Dad told me that these came in the box with the S&W revolvers, and he'd get them from a gunshop where they'd get discarded along with the boxes. There appears to be five complete kits with screwdrivers, mops, brushes, and rods. Two partial kits and one lone rod. The rods are 7-1/4" long or 5-1/4". The screwdrivers all have ribbed handles and hollow ground blades. My friend wants one for his '60s Model 10, but I do not have a use for the rest. Can anyone help with a value for a kit? I have the SCSW 3rd edition, but the information in that one is getting older. Many thanks and best wishes, Marc

Many thanks for the reply. My dad collected mainly in the late '60s and early '70s, so I presume those are from that time period. Best wishes, Marc

A model 10 wouldn't need the Sat....sight adjustment tool that your calling screwdriver as it's a fixed sight gun.

Better pictures of the SAT'S may be beneficial for you.

Most of the kits are brass ends....good for you.
.
Some are 357 and 44 so again good for you.

The kits are marketable but you will have to measure the length of the rods and the diameter of the brushes in order to market them properly. Some appear to be for snubby revolvers which is good. The ones with longer cleaning rods are more common.

I agree with Ken158. If by chance you have a screwdriver (sight adjustment tool or SAT, whatever you prefer to call it) that has a long taper tip (see photo), that, too, would be worth a bit more (it's hard for me to tell from your photograph what types are there). And, of course, your friend's Model 10 doesn't need a Sight Adjustment Tool.

Updates and Photos

Hi Folks, My sincere thanks to all for the information. My intent is to sell these here on the forum versus eBay or similar. I just need to know an honest/good price. I am splitting proceeds with my three sisters, so I do not want to short change them. No, I am not flogging my dad's nice S&W stuff to buy a Glock. Can anyone help me with a price for each of these? I have added closeup photos to help. Some of the bags have dad's 1970s tape on the end as the rods apparently tried to poke through. Individual photos as requested. BTW I also found three '60s-'70s hammers in the same drawer, and I will post those separately. Many thanks again, and best wishes, Marc

Oh yes, none of the SAT screwdrivers have the long tapered tip. They are all hollow ground with a dull blued finish.

Tools

I refurbish the Mahogany Presentation cases and many times I have inquires to buy the tools. When I have a complete set, I normally sell them at $90.00/ set for any length rod! The brush and swab mounted on brass was used in the older guns and I have no idea when the switch from brass to AL was made!
