Does anyone know if the belt buckles and folding knives from the 1970s are worth anything?

Depends on what you mean by "anything." There are plenty of buyers/collectors who will pay for these items depending on condition and rarity. Some knives & buckles were very low production. There are 3 classes of buckles - (1) S&W issued & dated (2) Bergamot licensed buckle production, and (3) buckles with S&W logo or Smith & Wesson name on them that are not licensed or made by S&W,. Rarer S&W buckles, especially gold or silver, will bring up to $350 on eBay. Average S&W issued buckles , if NIB, bring about $30 to $45 on eBay. Class 2 or 3 buckles, about 1/2 what a S&W issued buckle will bring. Get a copy of "The Buckles of S&W" by Pete Roberts for the story on S&W buckles. --- Knives are a whole different ballgame, too lengthy to tell the story here. Again, rarity & condition are the key, but rare ones can run into 4 figures easily.

Blackie Collins SW Folding Knife

I have one in mint shape. Can anyone direct me to information concerning the value.
It is a blade lock knife about 5 in long when folded.

Does anyone know of a source for the "slingblade" boot knife S&W made at one time?

It's a short-bladed thrusting knife. The blade pivots sideways into the handle. That's the best I can describe it.

The only Collins designed folder was the 3 1/2" #6060 Folding Hunter. As S&W did not have the ability to manufacture folders until they set up the Houlton plant in the 80's it was made for them under license by Alcas. The fixed blade knives of the 70's designed by Collins were made at the plant in Springfield.

$100 is about right and it's a very nice knife.

The Boot Knife, and its sister the Swing Blade Sporter, were not that popular and are rarely seen today. They were designed by Robert Ferraro and made duing the 80's at the Houlton plant.

I don't recall ever seeing one in the current Chinese-made line offered by Taylor Cutlery.

Heads up for those wanting a Swing Blade

Just got my AG Russell catalog today and was thumbing through it. Son of a gun if there isn't a little(2" as opposed to the S&W 3") swing blade in it. Had never noticed it before. Russell is a legend in the cutlery industry and has great stuff at all price points. Here's a link.
