To make a long story short, I bought a NIB Model 40 with the Case Colored finish. Gun arrived and the finish was BEAUTIFUL (If you can handle it not being blued or nickel). The barrel sucked!!! Bad chatter marks in the lands and grooves, bad sharp burr on the forcing cone, cylinder slop, and the right grip panel gaped 1/16" off of the frame at the top. I called customer service and they sent a pre-paid return label. In about a week I get a call stating that due to the number of issues with this revolver, they wanted to know if they could just replace it. Two days later Fed Ex knocked on my door. This one's even nicer than the last one! Beautiful finish! Sharp lands and groove! nicely fitted grips! The inspector's date says 4-1-2010, but this is no Joke! Talk about freshness!:D I do have a question for the "experts". The last 40-1 had serial numbers prefixed by "CMY." This one is "CNK." Also under the grip panels, on the left side of the frame is a stamp that looks like a "Z" and "B24." On the right side frame is the number "203," and under that the number "41095." Can any one tell me what they mean, and why didn't the last one have similar markings? Also the number "203" matches the number electric penciled under the serial number on the crane. Could this indicate special fitting?

Your most accurate answer as to the meaning of the stamps and lettering on the frame will come from the factory itself.

Contact customer service and ask them to decipher the codes for you.
