This is the second time I've had to use Smith and Wesson customer service. This time it was to order a replacement allen screw to retain the end cap on my 627 v-comp. I also ordered replacement side plate screws and yoke retaining screw just in case I ever bugger them up.

The guy on the phone was polite and didn't even charge me for the replacement parts. I hope they keep up the good work. Good experience both times I've needed to use their services.

I had an occasion to use C/S about twelve years ago.
I purchased a used M5906 and was thinking of using it for Off Duty carry. But every time I shot it at the range the left ambisafety lever, spring and detent ball departed the slide. After several outings I lost the spring and C/S sent me a replacement at no cost.
At the next range trip everything fell off under recoil again and this time I didn't even find the lever.
Called C/S and explained the problem, including the fact that it was used when I got it. The Rep told me to pack it up, mark it "Duty Weapon" and send it in. They only had the gun at the factory for two days. When I got it back I could not believe it was my gun. Everything had been cleaned and lubed and and an entirely new safety had been installed. They returned the gun to me and my only cost for the entire deal was the initial shipping to S&W.
Really and impressive operation and Class Act.

Okay, Thom, I can out-do that: same exact thing happened to me with one of my 3913s---safety lever fell off at the range and I couldn't find it. S&W paid shipping BOTH ways and, as I didn't need a right handed safety, honored my request just to plug it. Went back to the range & they had begun diggin' some new target lines with new railroad ties---no luck finding that safety. Then about three months later an old timer called me up to ask if the safety lever he found while working out there belonged to me (I had told him about how great S&W had been about fixin' it)! Talk about a needle in a hay stack...
