I'm liquidating my fathers estate , in the gun safe are a few stray cylinders, This one I think is for a model 25 in 45 colt ???.

There is no serial numbers but under the ejector it is marked
W D (with a diamond in the middle ) , 6-77 , COLT .45

Can anyone confirm this is a S&W cylinder

Greetings.

Measure the overall length. 1.53" will be a 45 Colt cylinder for a model 25-2.

1.67" will be a replacement cylinder for a model 25-5.

If the individual chamber throats measure .452 and are
consistent one to another you have a good piece there.

Good luck

I had to find my set of 1 to 3 micrometers
The overall length measures 1.531
Can't find my calipers to check the bore diameter

I think it is a cylinder that was chambered at the factory as an extra for a M25. The initials with the diamond stamp and the date stamp tell me that. The rebate around the rear of the cylinder is so that it will clear the cylinder stop stud for the original .45ACP cylinder.
