S&W Equalizer

I bought a S&W Equalizer based on the fact it had the external safety and the grip safety due to being raised on the 1911. The 1911 is just to big and bulky for IWB carry. The only problem I have with this gun is the trigger. Extremely long reset with no feel at all.
What I have found out id that there is little to no reference to this gun anywhere. No aftermarket and no mention of it anywhere. I had a very hard time finding a holster. The first two I got were for a Shield EZ and I was told they were the same. They are not. So what can I do about a decent trigger?

I have 2 Equalizers. Do have issues with the trigger. Was told it does not have a lot of tactile feel or sound. Apparently due to the gun having an internal hammer and thus the lighter racking. I had the issue when trying to shoot a full magazine quickly at the range. It would simply stop shooting even tho there were 5 or 6 bullets in the mag and one in the chamber. Working with the gunsmith he felt everything looked good, just have to back off the trigger a bit more between shots. Practicing now. So far so good, and no real loss of speed. The holster is the other issue I have. Holster makers do tend to assume anything that fits the M&P is great for the Equalizer. Ah, but not so much. There are a few holster makers that call out the Equalizer, but not many yet. As for me I love the Equalizer. As an older guy who is disabled, the racking is a breeze. That's why I have two (carry and house). Tried the Glock, Berretta, the M&P, Sig Sauer and really struggled to rack those. I'm sticking with the Equalizer. All the features of the EZ and more.

We seem to have the same issues with racking the slide. I have severe arthritis in both hands so I needed the lighter slide. That, and the external safety, were the selling points for me. On my CCW qualification I pulled one shot to ruin a perfect score and that was due to having to fully release the trigger. Also at the end of the coarse the instructor wanted to see five rounds as fast and accurate as possible. Yea, that was a mess. I pulled my G19 out that I had cleaned up the trigger on and put ten rounds basically in one big ragged hole, so it is the gun and that is the one problem I have with it. I sent a email to S&W about the issue. Will see what their answer is.

At first I could get off a few rounds before it felt like the trigger just went dead. Working with the gunsmith at the store, he operated an entire box of ammo through it with no issues. If you don't let the trigger all the way back nearly, it doesn't reset. But like you I have weak hands from meds and a disability. We can't be the only two people running into this. The Equalizer lets me keep shooting. Heck, I struggle with a revolver. So I'll keep trying but watch for the response you receive.

An acquaintance at work bought one. I tried it at the range. Nice trigger, just like proper pistols had back in the last century. It has a nice long reset, just like a revolver. My brother may pick one up, but he is used to Beretta 92D models, so he knows how to shoot.

If you have been using striker fired ****, the Equalizer is probably not for you.

I bought a fobus holster and it is marked SWEZ. It fits my Equalizer perfectly. tom.
