Looks like a 38 Double Action, 4th model from the late 1890s.

Hello,
Yours is a 38 caliber top break double action 4th model manufactured from 1895-1909. Serial numbers below 382,000 are Pre-1899 manufacture. So yours is antique.
Make sure you look closely at the backstrap along the grip frame for any Remanence of markings that would represent Property Stamps from police or Express departments as this model was used by both. More often than not the markings are removed but sometimes still partially visible!!!!
