This a set of target stocks that I believe are Honduran Rosewood. There is an R stamped on one panel. They were available in the 1970's and 80's. This is the first set I have run across and I have only seen a few sold or on the forum. Please post any Honduran stocks you may have.

Years ago I had a few sets of these in J target. One k target smooth. They look great but did need to be wiped down on occasion or they would appear to be dried out some. If I remember right it was also a very dense wood.

I kept my k set for a very long time before I was talked out of them.

The J sets I bought were brand new from the same owner and came in a box of 5 or 6 They were wrapped in a light tanish papet and rosewood was stamped on each paper.
I also bought a box of the darker colored rosewood that were also wrapped in paper individually and were stamped rosewood.

It seemed obvious they came right from the factory as they were perfect.

S&W stamped various things on the inside of stocks from time to time, but other than part numbers or NT-430 or NT-38, I don't know what they mean.

I have smooth grips that aren't Gon/alv but not sure if Rosewood or Walnut. How would one tell ? A lot of S&W grips are easily IDed as walnut.
Maybe I'm looking to hard. If it's questionable if they are walnut and aren't Gon/Alv , the they must be Rosewood?

Post them up here, we'll figure it out. There are those that are easy to ID but also those that aren't and don't have the usual traits. Pics of backsides and the bottom of the grip are needed.

One way to tell the type of wood used is reading the card on the blister pack, although this one does not say Honduran. ;)

Those are one of the few sets I've seen on the forum. Thanks for posting again. I'll include these in the package again as well, unfortunately all I have is the picture.
