Was sure exactly where to post this, as it could apply to any gun really. Wondering what the consensus is here of people way more knowledgeable than I. If you had a revolver that was clearly marked as NY-1 , RHKP and C&E , or NYDOCS do you think a letter helps with the value or collectibility? I ask because everyone knows what those markings are. They are not easy to fake. What say you ??????

As in most things related to firearm collecting you can expect to receive many differing opinions.

My own opinion is YES, get the letter even if you know the meaning of the markings in question. I say that for two reasons. First, the SWHF letter will often provide additional information that the collector may not have. This would include a precise shipping date, the total number of units in the shipment, and confirmation of the as-shipped configuration. Second, all of our guns will eventually get sold. A SWHF letter will provide assurance to any future buyer and will usually result in an increased value and resulting sale price.

HTH.

Regards.

Hi. My wife is retired from DOCS. Curious what model gun that might be? Thanks.

GMAC, I'm sure there are other versions but most of the ones I see are 10-7. I have one that I bought 2 yrs ago. Came with holster 2 speed loaders and pouches. Leather is stamped AWT which I think is Attica Wyoming Transport, as the two prisons are right next to each other.
