I have posted this before ,but i wish S&W would produce lever action rifles to handle for one, the 460 & 500 S&W magnum ,have a rifle and carbine version, blued and stainless versions, big loop lever, and also chambered in 357mag,44 mag,45 colt and even a 22lr and 22 mag.Would be perfect to compliment youre S&W revolver.Love to see that.

I have a passion for lever actions myself! A 500 Mag would be fun.

A lever action in 45LC to complement my Mountain Gun would be excellent!! I could also go for a 460.

I believe they can keep that $1900 lol. I want a .460 lever gun though. I can't imagine its trajectory out of a 16-20" bbl lol. Maybe one of us should start calling/annoying marlin for one lol.

While I like the idea of a 500s&w levergun, the price tag is ridiculous. My Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70 with the 28" octagonal barrel is plenty of levergun in my opinion. It's as accurate as my Remingtion 700 Varmint out to 200 yards, holds 9 rounds in the tube and 1 in the chamber, and packs a heck of a punch with Buffalo Bore or Handloaded wide-meplat hardcast lead bullets from 300gr thru 550 gr. The thing shoots lengthwise thru a 400lb boar, and exits the other end with little sign of slowing or deformation. In my limited experience, velocity is great, but only to a certain point. It's great for increased range and flat trajectory, but a moderate velocity projectile of large diameter seems to penetrate better than the same projectile going significantly faster. Same principle as jumping into water. 75-150 feet is fine, might sting a bit but otherwise okay. Now try terminal velocity entry. Ankles break, spine compresses, lots of damage to the projectile. I figure 1,500 to 1,700 fps on target is about right for a 405gr. hardcast. The bullet doesn't deform or shatter due to extreme energy, but it will push on thru just about any beast you care to hunt and leave a nice exit hole.

Smith would just be returning to its roots. They started with the Volanic lever action pistol. I would be interested.
