S&W lock

Dear members, does the lock on the new S&W revolvers affect the double or single action trigger pull? thank You

Only if it locks up. Otherwise no the lock in no way effects trigger pull.

There are anecdotal internet reports of lockup especially with the air-weight magnums under recoil. I have not noticed much difference in trigger pull. I keep an S&W key on my key ring just in case, but have never needed it even with the 5" or 8 3/8" S&W 460 magnums with hot loads.

I no longer believe they are a problem but they're so ugly I simply cannot bring myself to buy one. The ones I've owned in the past were impulse buys but did work fine.

My TRR8 has a lock and about the best trigger I've ever experienced so I would have to say it has no effect.

Can't speak from personal experience, but from reading far and wide on the subject, affect on trigger pull is the one complaint about the lock I've never encountered.

Lock..... what lock? They are first things to go in all my new revo purchases.

I had one of the first 329 scandium 44 magnums off the line. Serial was a double digit.
I had the lock engage twice in the first 50 rounds. I called S&W and they sent me a shipping lable to sent it back to them. They pulled it apart, cleaned and inspected it. I had it back in my hands in under two weeks.
Next trip to the range within the first two cylinders I had it lock up again. I emptied the cylinder and left it locked. I sent it back with it still locked up (they gave me another shipping lable).
I got a call from someone a few days later with a string of apologies... But no solutions to the problem...
I explained I no longer could trust the gun and didnt want it back. He understood and a week later I got a check in the mail from S&W for the full price I paid with tax and FFL fees.

That was the last scandium pistol I bought. Will never buy another one with a lock. I would love to buy another one in 44, but not with those stupid locks....

Just remove the lock. It's easy to do.

Yup I have a 642 & a 638 both with the lock. Took less than 5 minutes to remove. Saved the parts to replace if I ever sell one. Unlikely.

Have both a 629 and 500 that had the lock. They now have the plug. I couldn't tell any trigger difference either way.

I have a 637-2 with approximately 8 bazillion rounds through it (give or take a bazillion). It has never locked up for any reason, nor do I ever expect that it will.

No there is no change in the feel of the trigger pull
