S&W Lock

I dont know? What do you want to know? People here are always willing to give a helping hand.

What happened to the thread on the S&W Lock?

Earlier this year, I pruned the Lounge to reduce bandwidth costs. Those costs are no longer an issue for the present.

Pruning is usually done by cutting off threads with a last post before a certain date- in other words, the threads with the "oldest last post". These threads, of course, are located at the back end of a forum area.
It never occured to me that the lock thread, being a sticky at the beginning of the Lounge, would be pruned because the last post in the thread fell before the cutoff date.

I have heard rumors implying some doubt about the "accident", but never had the direct question put to me. Instead, people merely rattle like the fall leaves in a gentle wind.

Trust me here- had I deleted it intentionally, I would have no problem telling you so. ;)

I would love to see the dreaded infernal internal locks disappear too.

Two years ago, I discontinued selling any new S&W revolvers with the locks. For little revolvers, I sell Ruger SP101s.

I am always looking for very nice pre-lock S&W revolvers to sell.

Hope S&W wises up and gets rid of the lock!

Like others I'd like to have a new gun (or several) out of the Classic line. But I'll not be buying any new S&W revolvers UNTIL THEY LOSE THE LOCK!

Does anyone think they heard me? :D

I found my own way to deal with the issue, I stopped buying S&W and went back to Colt 1911's and revolvers. (and a few others)

I thought you'd be the type to just disable the lock Joni? I'm surprised at you!!

Get in there and disable that stupid thing. Like I said in another post, you're missing out on one of life's simple pleasures!!

Some of us just have other things to do.

It's like fried rice. A lot of the Chinese places around here put egg in the fried rice. I simply LOATHE eggs, so I get to spend a part of my meal time picking the egg out of the fried rice. I usually just order white rice instead. Instead of grinding on new S&Ws, I just buy old ones without the lock.

When I eat lunch or shoot, I just want to eat or shoot, not process food or do gunsmithing.

My first lock gun was my 340PD, it jammed up and I did 'fix' it.
My parents gave me one of the 50th anniversary 29-10 rev9lvers and I left it alone.
That's enough locks.

It only takes about 15 minutes to eliminate the lock. Takes almost that long to clean the gun. No big deal, just eliminate it the next time you do a detail cleaning.

I think that anyone who starts another lock thread ought to be summarily executed-if we keep beating this dead horse PETA is gonna go apesh!t!!

I had not bought a new Smith in about 10 years til 2007 when I got a 629 Mountain Gun and a Lew Horton Model 24 3". Actually got them off the net. Was shocked to see no firing pin and this dumb hole in the side of the frame. They shoot ok but just dont MAKE the grade. I think I am going to sell them. Take the money and buy a REAL Smith

"Take the money and buy a REAL Smith."

+1 I don't consider the "innovative" crap coming out of Springfield to be REAL S&W's. Save money, and get a better revolver buying pre lock only. Regards 18DAI.

I think we should all buy the new Centennials with the grip safety. None of these models have the lock, and I love the finish and fit of my nickeled example.
