Out of curiosity is there a specific year when the logo moved from right to left ?

I'm thinking all the L frame guns have the logo on the left, beneath the release latch. On the K and N frame guns, depends on the model, but many about the same time the pinned barrels were dropped. For instance, the M66-1 (P&R), has the logo on the side plate on the right, but the M66-2 has the logo on the left. That would make the change around 1982. Just a SWAG on my part, based on observations.

Photograph on the left is a Model 1917 Commercial from the 1930s, logo under the cylinder release.

Middle is a Model 1950 Army, logo on the sideplate.

Right is a Model 28-2revolver and a Model 625-6, logos on the sideplates.

And my Model 1917, built in 1918, does not have a logo.

I think the logo moved in the early 80s from the sideplate to below the cylinder release. The earliest L frames still had the logo on the sideplate

I have 2 1980 blued M19-4 4 inch. One has the logo on the side plate and one below the latch. Go figure.

Change on the 66-1 apparently was before/around 97K serial number. I have a 66-1 2.5", pinned and recessed, with the small logo on the left side. I have seen others in this serial number range with large logo on the right.

There is no single answer to your question.

Chiefs Specials started in 1950 with the small logo on the left side below the thumb piece.

The logo is still on the left side, but it bloomed a wee bit in the mid-'80s and through the '90s.

I don't have a contemporary Model 36-10, but the logo appears to have shrunk back to its original size.

Years represented in photos: '51, '62, '71, '78, and '84.

As two-bit cowboy mentioned there is no specific period across the board. I believe it is dependent on the model you have in mind. I like ACP revolvers. They started out with no logo. Marked under the cylinder release in the 30s. After WWII the logo moved to the sideplate, except on the 1917s shipped to Brazil. When we get to the stainless revolvers, the logo seems to go from one side to the other depending on who knows what, the tilt of the earth’s axis perhaps!
