S & W Logo

Does anyone know how long Smith & Wesson has been using it's current logo? Has it remained unchanged since the company's beginning, or were there previous versions? The reason I ask is because I purchased an old pocket knife made in the early 1920's with an (S&W) advertising stamp on the handle. Is this an older Smith & Wesson emblem or something completely different? Thanks

I've never seen this version of the logo, and wonder if some knife co. made it up for a marketing idea.

It looks kind of nautical to me, but I'm not sure why.

S&W has used a few variations of their logo. That being said, I've never seen one like that before. It doesn't mean that it was never used, it just means I've never seen it.

Thanks for your feedback guys. Interestingly enough, this knife is a very early Remington. The authentic Remington pocket knives were made from 1919-1940, and this one has the first blade stamping, used from 1919 to 1923.
I'll continue to see if I can verify who used this S&W logo. I'm hopeful that it turns out to be Smith and Wesson, but my google search brought up lots of companies that used those initials. None of which showed this logo though.
