Been shooting my M-15 in IDPA (SSR) and been having a blast. Amazed at the accuracy, simplicity & relative smoothness of the action. Fun to see I'm actually competitive with the pistol shooters in most stages.

Looking forward to competing in the state match this August. Wish me luck!

The reason is simple. The Combat Masterpiece is one of the best revolvers ever built on the best action - bar none - the K frame S&W. Reasonable size for carry, reasonable power for self-defense, outstanding trigger and accuracy straight from the factory without the need for trigger jobs. The amazing thing is that they were all like this! It just goes to show that equipment may help, but it never overcomes skill. God luck on your next match!

M-15

I agree with Shawn.....I carried, instructed, worked on and maintained K frame service revolvers for over 20 years of my 34 year career.....I also competed in PPC and IPSC with K frame revolvers....I shot a model 65 for years in IPSC and competed in the top tier divisions.....I always maintained that I would rather have a fellow who could shoot "Distinguished"or "master" with a model 10 backing me up than someone who had a 15 shot auto and was on "spray and pray" mode......and as a police instructor for 30 years I can assure you that I would much rather instruct recruits and officers with a K frame 38 spl , than any other platform / load combination. And I have worked with a bunch of them revolver and pistols alike. Enjoy your 15...good shooting.

I have 2 SSR guns. My older one is a 4" Heavy Barrel 64.

My latest one is a 686-5.

I have been shooting both in our Club Defensive Pistol Matches. I have been beating the 686 by 2 to 3 seconds like clock work with the stainless K Frame.

Both have had about the same work done to them by Ron Power. The 686 has a Cylinder & Slide Fiber Optic front sight. The 64 has Green Sight Brite sight paint.

I have been reloading both with Safariland Comp III Speed Loaders. I am going to switch the K Frame over to Jet Loaders when they come in.

I really like shooting revolvers.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm having a hoot shooting my revolver, just seems more intuitive for me. Anyone else shoot a M15 in IDPA?

I switch back and forth between a mod 10 hb and a 686ssr.
The mod 10 is every bit as good and more fun to shoot.

I tried using my model 10 a couple of years ago in a club match. Had a hoot. Different for sure, but fun.

I shoot a Model 10 HB at our local USPSA matches ( I am the only revolver shooter).
