I did the same mod as above. I really like the look of the 15-22 with the shorter fore grip. Taking two inches off and using the A2 sight gives the same sight radius as the factory sights and the balance of barrel length and fore grip length looks better. Thanks to Davnic66 for the idea. I really like my 15-22 now more than ever. And as far as a home defense gun, will someone looking down the barrel have time to ascertain whether it's .22 or .223 they're looking at? Personally I'd run for cover.

I really like that handguard. Would you please share the type/mfgr/where you got yours? Also, is it the same length as a M4 or CAR handguard? That would be cool if it was able to be switched out on the fly, but it looks like it probably uses a different cap on the end by the front sight. Thanks for any info you can share.

It is a carbine-length Magpul MOE and can be swapped out for a standard mil-spec M4 handguard at the drop of a hat. I got mine at a local shop that sells on the internet as well. Coleman Tyler, AR15web.com -Best prices on all AR15, kits, parts, rifles I fastened a 10-24 screw through the handguard end cap and into the gas tube hole in the front sight base. This effectively eliminates the movement of the front of the forend that we get as a result of the barrel being smaller than the hole. I also have a mid-length handguard I can put on if I want to loosen the screws on the front sight base and move it forward a little bit. I run the carbine length so my 15-22 and my AR match each other.

As an old USAF puke, I'm partial to the CAR(that's because, that the AR I carried when deployed w/S&W Mod 15 or 19)or a railed handguard AR.

It looks like TrueShotTechnology's sight. If you contact FMJ50 he may be able to provide one with the lug intact. He owns TrueShotTechnology.

Really don't know what to say about "pink" weapons, just doesn't seem right to me.

I did the same conversion shortly after I bought mine. I went with the TruShot front sight, though. I thought I had the M-4 handguard, I just checked and it's the CAR. Change my vote!

this is exactly what i wanted to do.

I live in MASS and i was trying to get the colt m4 made by walther umarex But im almost positive that it is not mass compliant. so my other option was to do this upgrade to the 15 22. I Love It. It looks so sick. also are there any other new parts that will fit that are better or newer style. i wanna def do this. I just want to make sure that i have the right parts.

Sorry to hear your State is such a pain.
Just get this kit and put whatever 2 piece hand guards you want on.

I glad S&W didn't come out with one like this to compete with Colt's version, that allows a small company to dominate the market.
BTW, I have come out with some stuff for Colt/H&K/Umarex the Ruger 10/22 the Mossberg and others.
If any of you have an idea to market, I am more than willing to listen.

You currently are making the fake suppressor, ahh im really not into the almost real stuff on my guns, but that's me.
What im Thinking is....How about a CAR 15 Flash Hider that fits on the way your suppressor attaches so that it makes the barrel look like the 10.5 barrel.
What do you guys think ?

That would be our barrel shroud.

The car 15 flash hider is the same diameter as the standard flash hider but it is a 4.5" in length it also supports a bayonet.

This is what I use, it's called a slip over that screws onto your barrel in the place of your regular flash hider

That's what im talking about, the one difference is that the CAR15 is milled down at the rear so that you can put a wrench on it to tighten it down.
Who makes that one?
