I have both the:

S&W M&P 9MM (fullsize - 17+1)
Product: Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm - No Thumb Safety

and the,

S&W M&P 45c (mid/compact - 8+1)
Product: Smith & Wesson M&P45c - Compact Size, No Safety

My concern and question is...
Can I get a holster that can be used for both?
I recently went to a local gun shop and found that the
Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster fits both the
(fullsize 9) and the (compact 45).
BLACKHAWK! SERPA CQC w/Matte Finish - BLACKHAWK!

I am wanting a leather conealable holster that is tight to the body
but not too high as to make the gun "butt heavy".

However, I use this one at work... and its an awesome holster!
Safariland 6377 ALS Belt Holster - STX Tactical Black, Right Hand 6377-219-131 FREE S&H 6377-219-131. Safariland ALS Belt Holster 6377 Holsters, Safariland Holsters.

Please post affordable Leather Holsters that have a thumb break/snap
that are slightly fwd cant and close to the body...
that will fit both the fullsize 9 and the compact 45.

Thank for your feedback......

I have been using the same holster for my mid size 45acp and full size 9mm M&Ps, not sure how the compact would work as I think the slides are different lengths .

The mid size 45ap and the compact 45acp have the same slide and barrel.

I think finding the "right" holster is such a uniquely, personal thing. The holster that anyone ends up buying should/will depend on many different variables, such as, body type, cal./size/weight etc. of pistol, belt/waist size, degree of concealment, budget, brand loyalty, location of holster on body, quickness of access/draw, etc., etc. And, I'm certain, that there is no such thing as a universal, "one (type) holster fits all". Otherwise, why would holster manufacturers make sooo many different varieties? Therefore, when someone queries about the type of holster they should buy for their (typically conceal) pistol, I believe there are basic criteria/variables that should also be listed, some of which I've noted above. Then, the one that matches most or all of the variables, will probably be the one that will most likely be a good fit.

Just my 2 yuan.

MotorCityGun raises good points...
I guess I was too specific.
I was wondering what ppl were using.
and from that collection it would help narrow my search.
and in turn, hopfully a diamond would appear... for my situation.
Pic's and links would be great.... please advise... thx

I have noticed that the 9 and 40 full and compact are the same sizes, other than length of barrel and grip.

I just picked up a 9c and it fits just fine in the same holster I already had for my full-size 40.

Of course, the holster is longer than the 9c, so it doesn't fill it in all the way. I suppose I would like to find a smaller one that is actually designed to exactly fit the 9c, probably an IWB, since I did get the 9c with the intent to carry it concealed.

There are alot of people that use the supertuck and love it. I personally went with a comp-tec ctec iwb holster and love it. I'm 6'5" and about 255lbs and I can't tell it's there most of the time. I remeber being told that buying a holster can almost be as expensive as buying the gun itself.

I agree that by the time you find the "perfect" holster(s), you will probably have spent between $200 to $250.

wow... a lot of ppl with a lot of opinions about why buying a holster is a difficult "personal" decision... but no one owns a holster.

Its like speaking to a bunch of women that want to tell me th struggle of buying a holster... for christ's sake!

What holster do you use... I ask to get idea's, not hear how hard it is to buy a holster.

I currently have another gun, that I use the Crossbreed Supertuck.
Works like a charm, but was wondering if there is anything else out there that ppl are using and works well, (for them).

Thanks...

I carry my M&P 40 in a Tagua Gunleather Thumb Break OWB. Very secure and comfortable. Living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast almost requires an OWB just because of the "sweat factor". Tagua holster was a big surprise at less than $35.

I use the supertuck

on my M&p9, and I love it. Don't even feel it there alot of the time, and have not had it but for a month. I would recommend highly. Be sure to use your NRA discount, if you are a member.

Whoa there silvercn. I (we) just wanted to note a word of caution about what to buy based upon YOUR own "specifications". I'm wondering why you want to know what everyone else is using since your Crossbreed "works like a charm" (?). I'm sure everyone who carries concealed uses some kind of holster, but I'm willing to bet that their "specs" are different than yours. In fact, you don't even mention what kind of gun your "another gun" is. So, take a chill pill and dial it back just a bit. We're all just "friends" with a hankering and pension for our M&P's here so no need to rant on this site.

BTW, here's what I use to carry my 40c. It's a custom made IWB kydex with neutral cant. It's located at 4 o'clock on my RH/strong side. Mag holster is OWB (Uncle Mike's?) which I carry at 9 o'clock. S&W pocket knife is clipped in my back pocket right next to pistol...and to respond to your "women" comment, "no, this set up does NOT make me look fat(ter)".

lol... was that so hard....

I guess I posted too much info,,,
I should have just simply wrote,
"Please post your CC holsters, pictures and expierences and opinions"

You seem interested in my "other gun"...
it is a (BERSA Thunder 9MMM Ultra Compact).
I like to call her my fat little lady, as it is considered a "ultra compact"
but it is a little chunker. dont mean to offend you with those harsh jokes. :P

And we can clearly agree...
my M&P 9MM fulsize(for work), and my M&P 45c (for personal CC)
are the best guns I have ever owned... Love them... Perfection.... IMHO

No offense taken silvercn. I see how this works now, all you do is take, take, take, but never give anything back, right? You want everyone else to post pics of their set up but you couldn't even post one pic of your fat little Bersa uc. ;-{)
