I have a S&W Mod. 60 (no dash), and I am not sure if there is problem or not.

At the range this past weekend. Started with 158 FMJ (Western X). It's some pretty old ammo, so I wasn't suprised when a round didn't go off. I thought, "It's old, primer is bad". But it happened once every 5 rounds. On the 2nd time around the cylinder it would fire, or if I removed it and reloaded the dud into the gun.

I changed ammo. 158gr FMJ Sellier and Bellot. Still had 3 rounds out of 50 that did the same thing.

The primer strikes looked a bit light compared to the other 4 in cylinder, but not light enough for it to fire (so I thought).

Could it be worn Firing Pin?, Spring? Or something in the cylinder?

No I should have at the time, but didn't think about it until later to keep track of which chambers were having the 'duds'. Sometimes I would just rotate the cylinder to re-fire the dud and it would shoot just fine.

The most common reason for this would be the mainspring strain screw (on the front grip strap) not being snugged all the way tight. Crud in the action or a too-light spring would also be possible.

I had a similar problem once with my 60. Make sure the hammer block isn't gummed up with a bunch of oil. I over oiled mine but a q-tip fixed it right up.

I would lean toward crud in the action or too light a main spring. I'm guessing the OP won't find a strain screw on a 1965 or newer Model 60 since they use a coil main spring.
