S&W Model 10-8 Victoria (Australia) Police - looking for production date

Hello,

I have a Model 10-8 that was a Victorian Police (state of Victoria, Australia) trade-in.

Can anyone please tell me the production date?

The serial number is: 8D27xxx.

Almost certainly 1981 per the 4th edition. This would be shipping date. Smith did not track production dates, though the two were likely close together.
